Slideshow/Results: Mountain Bike Race
The 2013 Bicycle Works Mountain Bike Season got underway on Sunday [Jan 6] with the 3rd Annual Dockyard to Ferry Reach Mountain Bike Race. Under warm and sunny conditions with light winds, the 63 participants headed out on the 22 mile course.
Last year’s National Champion, Dominique Mayho, took the lead right from the start. By the time the chase group, consisting of Dexter Swan, Mark Hatherley, Phil Trussell, Macio Talbot and Chequan Richardson, had reached the half way mark Mayho had a 2 minute lead on his rivals.
Young Mayho continued to extend his lead finishing 5 minutes ahead of second place finisher Mark Hatherley. Rounding out the top 5 were Phil Trussell, Chequan Richardson and Macio Talbot. The top female rider was Ashley Kirkpatrick, while Matthew Oliveira finished as the top Junior rider. The full results are here [PDF].
