“Sonesta Purchase Is Good News For Bermuda”
The purchase of the old Sonesta property by the Green Family is good news for Bermuda and indicates there is comfort and that there are investors who want to work with Bermuda, Premier Craig Cannonier said.
The Green Family announced on Monday [Mar 18], that they purchased the South Shore property. This marks the Greens second hotel property purchase in recent months, as Peter Green and his sons, Alexander and Andrew Green, purchased The Fairmont Hamilton Princess in September 2012.

Premier Cannonier said, “I’m proud to say today that with the purchase of the Sonesta Beach Hotel property that has been vacant for some time now; means that there is comfort and that there are investors who want to work with Bermuda and find that there is a future for their investment. This is good news for Bermuda.
“I can also confirm that there is a lot of interest in St. George’s, our great heritage site. We will continue after our budget period of looking at those interested in the properties there and what can be developed as we move forward.
“We know that they [The Green Family] are looking to build another hotel property at Sonesta. Right now it’s in its infancy stage as it has just been purchased.
“We do have before the Economic Development Committee requests being made as we speak. We will give details to that as we move on further through the process. It is exciting new to know that the property will be developed.
“We are looking to understanding their construction timeline from the new owners. We’ll be letting you know about that as we move forward,” the Premier concluded.
Do you think The Green Family could maybe purchase the British American Building on Front Street?
and my mortgage!
That picture is stunning!
WHAT!!?! No negative comments? Must be early in the day!
Personally, I am very happy that this property will be developed. My hope and prayer is that it will be tasteful and profitable. Jobs, Bermuda!! Jobs!
Pastor – stop trying to stir the pot. You aren’t acting like a very nice person. No need for comments like that. Give it a rest. I suppose you’ll make a similar comment on an article tomorrow about a newborn kitten.
Some people. SMH
Haha, well played.
I said this before but think it is worth re-posting.
The Funny thing is, the Green Family in this day and age would never become Bermudian were they to immigrate here even if they were to invest at the same level. Under the PLP they would have had a term limit period! Again what people don’t understand is that by granting permanent residency and citizenship to job creators, investors and employers from outside our Island, we sow the seeds of economic benefit, financially and intellectually for the future. This is clear proof, as the Green brothers are first Generation Bermudians and bare their expat parents legacy.
Seriously???
