59-Year-Old American In ICU After Cycle Collision

[Updated] A 59-year-old American man is in stable condition in the Intensive Care Unit of KEMH and is likely to be flown overseas for further medical treatment, following a rental cycle collision on Friday morning.

A police spokesperson said, “Around 11:30am on Friday, April 12th police and first responders attended a reported single vehicle rental cycle collision on South Road in Paget near the junction with Honey Hill. The rider, a 59 year old American man and his wife [pillion passenger] were injured.

“At last check the rider was in stable condition in the Intensive Care Unit of King Edward VII Memorial Hospital and likely to be flown overseas for further medical treatment.

“His wife received relatively minor injuries. The rental cycle was extensively damaged. Inquiries into this collision are ongoing and any witnesses are encouraged to contact PC Christopher Brady on 295-0011.”

This is the second visitor to end up in the ICU following a cycle collision in recent days. On April 11th a 26 year old male visitor was injured when the motorcycle he was riding collided with a car on South Road in Paget. He was initially listed in critical condition, and at last check was in stable condition in the Intensive Care Unit.

Update Apr 15: The 59 year old American man has been flown overseas for further medical treatment.
