Jane Carmichael Supreme Court Bermuda, April 4 2013 (1)

The police found the drugs strapped to her body, and the Court heard the cocaine had a street value exceeding $369,000.

Ms Carmichael told police that she was supposed to go to a local restaurant and wait there until someone contacted her, and during today’s sentencing the Crown said that she has not provided assistance in identifying her co-conspirators.

Ms Carmichael, who was crying, said that she accepted the court’s judgment.

  1. Malachi says:

Offer her a pardon to talk, and then send her home!

Why should we have to feed her for the next twelve years!

(she looks like an expensive one to feed)

    • Come Correct says:

Looks like she strapped the whole f@ckin buffet to her body too. Clearly she wasn’t getting high on her own supply.

      • Black Soil says:

Can we afford to fuc&$%ng feed her?????

    • Petra says:

Agree malachi! Just get her to name names and she gets to go home!

      • mixitup says:

She may name someone we all know – just sayin.

      • Arthur Raynor - Atlanta says:

Hmmm..do you really believe the “Big Man/Suppliers” gives their real full names to the drug mules?
If you really, really believe that, then I have a bridge in Flatts for sale!

    • Joey-Bag-O'doughnuts says:

I just squirted coffee out my nose. Too funny.

    • mr g says:

      lmfao….that was tooooo funny….

    • Simon Says says:

The most shocking thing to me about this whole article is that they found a prison jumpsuit to fit her…I didn’t know H.M. Prisons had a big and tall section. That thing looks to be a quadzillion XL.

      • Clive Spate says:

She looks about average size for the island

    • Nikki says:

You know nobody’s perfect. Things you say or do will come back to you. You would not want anyone to speak of your parents like that. But she made a mistake that’s no reason to put her down.take a good look around NoBodies PERFECT!

  2. Sandgrownan says:

Actually , don’t feed her. Some time in the exercise yard would be a good thing.

    • ROFL says:

@ Malachi and Sandgrownan. Giggling. Needeed that laugh. They should deport her home and save us money. All foreign prisoners shouldbe sent home period. Once your deported that is an automaticatic “You can’t come back to Bermuda ever”.

      • Deliverance says:

so long as they serve time in back there too! i wouldn’t let them just walk unless they’re willing to talk and name their Bermuda connection(s).

      • Um Um Like says:

…as long as we don’t have to pay by the pound to return her!

  3. Joonya says:

ummmm Annie meets Jabba the Hutt..

  4. Jason Smith says:

Send her home and blackball her from ever returning.

12 years * $80k per annum (average cost per prisoner) = $960k of taxpayers money that could be much better spent than on this cocaine cowgirl

Send her packing and put her on our stop list

    • Amazed says:

Using your logic why bother locking up anyone because it would be cheaper to let them go?

      • Jason Smith says:

I meant just for foreigners…kick ‘em out and never allow them to return to our shores…BDA stop list style

  5. Truth is killin' me... says:

She know’s who gave her the coke…waterboard her to get the truth and then go after dumbside clan!

  6. owner4comment says:

Really though 12years and she plead guilty? really? I dont condone her actions but people are hard up and the system is harder. Whats messed up is that the system in a lot of cases causes the public desparity. They tell you they have answers and were left to fend for self, because time is of the essence and people need to eat, provide etc. Sad indeed.

    • Come Correct says:

She brought in cocain, a synthetic drug. Do you know how many lives and families that drug alone destroys? If it was weed I’d be far more sympathetic. On top of that she wont give the names of the people she was working for which means they’ll just find another mule, she is expendable to them and the cycle will continue destroying more lives such as hers. See, right now on the island weed and cocain are in close competition price wise, the difference is, when dealing with cocain your client base is returning almost every 30 mins. What happens if you cant afford your re-up? People addicted to cocain rob, steal(b&e), perform sexual acts or worse just to get what they want. Sorry but no weed head is sucking **** for a spliff. I have a big problem when people profit off of destroying others. Sadly dugs like these are just the tip of the ice burg.

      • owner4comment says:

We both make viable arguments so in closing I guess I’ll just leave it @ “Thatz Just The Way It Iz”

        • Come Correct says:

“Things will never be the same” hit me with it one more time.

        • Mad Dawg says:

“People need to eat” is not a viable argument for drug smuggling.

  7. Pleasant Appetite says:

Nothing like some good old Bermudian chicken and mac & cheese to keep your blubber going through the winter months, and matching highlights to match the orange jump suit.

Why do Narcos exploit vulnerable simple people like this simple coffee roll above in orange, she should have been smart enough to inform on the rign leaders so she could go back to her Krispy Creme donuts and IHOP brunch

Anyway, in the mean time Pleasant Appetite lovely lady

    • Sandgrownan says:

The uniform matches her hair. A little bit.

    • Mad Dawg says:

Looking at her, I’m not surprised that going to a restaurant was part of the plan.

    • It Wasn't Me says:

She’s probably got some donuts tucked away in her cheeks like a squirrel…it should be enough to tide her over for awhile…

  8. James says:

They are far too nice finding her a prison outfit to match her hair! Or was it the other way around?

  9. tidbit says:

They should have organized a sting operation and allowed her to meet her contact at said restaurant.

    • tricks are for kids says:

@ tidbit THAT would have been the smart thing to as only “fools rush in”…Yes they may have gotten a conviction but the “big fish” is still out there probably arranging another shipment as we speak….

As far as her “rolling over” and naming her contact you know the drill…her family would be threatened etc, etc…with her remaining silent and taking “the fall” they will be taken care of…

  10. nuffin but da truth says:

that orange jelly roll brought coke into my island, far as Im concerned she might just have well been shooting at people.
Gut her ass and throw her overboard to feed de sharks!

  11. Juice says:

In 12 years, we’ll be seeing her on an episode of “Locked up Abroad”.

  12. riley says:

Looks like she was so happy with her first chin she decided to add another one. Just the fact that she can’t hit up the dollar buffet will make the sentence unbearable for her-justice served!

  13. Did he do it? says:

Isn’t she only going to do a third of her sentence minus the 11months she already served before the case came to court? That would mean she is only gonna do 3 years! That’s not much of a deterrent! Plus probably keeps her family alive for not helping authorities!

  14. Victor says:

And yet again the Mr and Mrs. Bigs walks because the frontline criminal was not offered a sweetheart deal – are we ever going to ask why?

  15. The Ombudsman makes a statement and says:

I heard that she had 5 Colombian drug lords strapped in her upper roll and the drugs were in her belly button cave with a hornets nest to protect it.. thats what i heard

  16. Leo says:

    Hey Rasputia, where’s Norbitt???

  17. Wacket says:

Why are all of you posters fixated on appearance?

    Her behavior is the issue.

In ridiculing this woman’s body and hair you are simply revealing your own inability to see others in a mature manner. I dread to think how you talk about others in your family and workplace when you think they can’t hear.

    Shame on you all!

    • The Ombudsman makes a statement and says:

its not often we get to “roast” scum of society..and looking at this drug smuggler aka drug mule we will hop on and roast…by the way i think drug mule is hurting the image of the donkey obviously she is more like a drug Brontosaurus with the ability to hide drugs under her double chin flap

  18. Kathy says:

Getting back to the issue…she ought to be thankful she found the courts in Bermuda. There was another grandmother in her 50s in Indonesia who is trying to escape her penalty – death by firing squad.

Why are we so lax in our punishments….does this mean, “come to Bermuda and bring your drugs with you! The risk is worth it here! Ain’t no death squad.” The less our punishments are the more crime will infiltrate our shores.

More than that though, shame on all you cocaine users out there….yes, you! Cocaine users in BDA are not just the baddies, they are our average lawyers, doctors, politicians, and children of these people who have money to burn. YOU are the real cause of the problem in BDA.

IF THERE IS NO DEMAND THERE WILL BE NO SUPPLY!

  19. Nikki says:

Please have some compassion for your fellow man or women.when you do something wrong. Big or little you hurt peoples feelings with the negative bull sh!t people say about each other. I’m sure everyone has a full figured woman or man in your family. Do you say negative things to hurt them? The mouth is a filthy thing that’s aways open. If you don’t have anything good to say shut the f**k UP. PLEASE! !!!!!!!!!!!

  20. Tiger Lily says:

How is it that most of the criminals caught in Bermuda are black? Why do white people make fun of petty stuff when it comes to blacks. I say that because just as the comments are on these blogs eg the size of the clothing, feeding her, etc. I have heard them make the similar dumba$$ comments in the workplace all my life. Sadly, the big white criminals are caught after they leave Bermuda. The average white criminals are just asked to leave their companies if they are caught so that their work history doesn’t say fired. Blacks get posted on the front of the newspaper for stealing a friggin $1 newspaper. Whites use their wealth to keep their families out of courts in Bermuda and keep their freedom to travel. The Blacks whose family members cleaned the whites’ ancestors home for pittance and remain in the working poor class just remain ridicled and stuck in a vicious cycle.

  21. sayitaintso says:

Here we go! The Racist thing again. So freaking tired of it. This is not about Race, it is about breaking the law!!!! Everyone can better themselves! If you don’t it is your own fault!

If you break the law, you suffer the consequences. Money talks! It does not matter if you are Black, White, Yellow, Brown, etc. Get a grip!!!!!

  22. fedup Nana says:

    THE BIGGER PICTURE…

SAVE THE INSULTS AND LAY FOCUS ON THE SCUM BEHIND THE PLOT

    HELLO!!!

  23. Reddasfoxx says:

It’s sad when black and white have nothing to do with it..it’s rich v poor..she wanted a free vacation to Bermuda make some money and go home ..she got burned…no reason why people need to act like animals and make fun of a person for being fat…if everyone put that’s much energy into positive ideas and stand as one people we wouldn’t have the problems we have..I bet if that was your family you would talk differant….and I’m not black or white …this is the only place in the world who see me as other!
