Cabinet Office: FIFA Delegation Courtesy Call
The FIFA Delegation, present in Bermuda for the past week, paid a courtesy call on the Cabinet Office on Thursday when they met the Acting Premier Michael Dunkley, Minister with responsibility for Sports Wayne Scott, and Minister of Works & Engineering Trevor Moniz.
The visit comprised talks of how FIFA has committed funding through its FIFA GOAL programme of $1.5 million to the BFA Field and $1.3 million to the soon to be constructed Clyde Best Centre of Excellence – both structures built on land leased to the BFA by the Bermuda Government.

The Government Ministers were pleased to extend their thanks to FIFA for their commitment to the BFA and in return the FIFA Delegation expressed their thanks for the support given by the Bermuda Government to the BFA over many years. Acting Premier Dunkley presented the FIFA delegation with a cedar desk/pen set.
The FIFA Delegation also visited Police Headquarters, several clubs grounds and held a meeting with local football clubs at Devonshire Recreation Club. Additionally they visited Curving Avenue and St. Monica’s Road in order to get an idea of how FIFA and other agencies could help to play a part in bringing communities back together again in peace. The FIFA Delegation enjoyed Bermuda fish sandwiches for lunch at Art Mel’s – the biggest they said they had ever seen.
