200px-Mohamed_Al-FayedConyers Dill & Pearman has advised Mohamed Al-Fayed and his related group of companies on the Bermuda law aspects of the sale of Fulham Football Club to Shahid Khan, the owner of the NFL team Jacksonville Jaguars.

The transaction has been approved by the Barclays Premier League and Mr. Khan assumes 100% ownership of the club, debt-free, as of 12 July 2013.

Conyers’ Graham Collis, Paul Nystrom and Robert Alexander from the firm’s Bermuda office advised on the transaction.

Mohamed Al-Fayed [pictured] is an Egyptian billionaire whose business interests include ownership of Hôtel Ritz Paris and formerly Harrods Department Store.

Fayed’s first son, Dodi, died in a car crash in Paris along with Diana, Princess of Wales and driver Henri Paul in 1997.

“My time of serving as the custodian of Fulham Football Club would one day come to an end, and I feel that time has now arrived,” Fayed said in a statement.

“The time is right because I have found a very good man in Shahid Khan to accept the responsibility and privilege that I have enjoyed at Fulham since 1997.

”Fulham will be in very good hands with Shahid, whose success in business and passion for sport is very evident. I ask everyone who loves Fulham and our Craven Cottage home to welcome Shahid as he begins his journey as the next guardian of Fulham Football Club.”
