$400 For Charity After Village Scores Four Goals
In an effort to raise awareness for breast cancer, North Village Community Club launched its 5th Kicks for Cancer campaign this past Sunday [Sept 29] at home field Bernard Park.
Freisenbruch Meyer Group, who once again partnered with North Village, committed to donating $100 to Bermuda Cancer and Health Center for every North Village goal scored during the game and will continue to do so for the month of October.
Motivated by the momentum of the campaign, the North Village Premier Team donned their pink jerseys and won the match against Flanagan’s Onions 4-1. With three goals scored by the lively Jason Lee and one by Jaquan Smith-DeShields, the team are helping to do their part with $400 worth of goals in the Kicks for Cancer kitty so far.
Newly elected club president Stephen Coddington said: “It’s been a great day and a great start to the campaign. We have an amazing team of volunteers who work very diligently to ensure that the campaign is a success every year and it just keeps getting bigger and better”.
North Village fans were out showing their support by wearing the official pink Kicks for Cancer t-shirt.
“We just about sold out of the t-shirts today so we are going to be ordering more,” Mr Coddington said. “North Village fans are very loyal and they are proud to support not only our premier team but also this very worthy cause. It was great to look around and see so much pink. We can always count on our fans.”
All profits from the sale of the t-shirts will be donated to Bermuda Cancer and Health Center. The campaign continues on Sunday, October 6 when North Village takes on Southampton Rangers at Southampton Oval.
