Video: Digicel Business Solutions Centre Opens

[Updated with video] Digicel marked the expansion of its ICT focused division, Digicel Business, with today’s opening of the Digicel Business Solutions Centre. Deputy Premier Michael Dunkley cut the ribbon to mark the official opening.

Located on the fourth floor of Washington Mall Phase II, the Digicel Business Solutions Centre is directly above the existing Digicel corporate offices.

“Our team is growing rapidly and we had been exploring ways to accommodate the increased number of staff,” stated Digicel Bermuda CEO, Wayne Caines. “When the floor above us became available, we saw an opportunity to expand and create a unique, dedicated business space. This, combined with the decision to make Bermuda a global cloud hub for Digicel Business and create jobs in this growing technology field, reflects our continued commitment to investing in Bermuda.”

Since Digicel Business launched in Bermuda in November 2012, ten jobs have been created, with a further ten expected by the end of 2014.

One of the main benefits of the new facility is the ability for clients to experience the technology in action. Beyond the sleek reception area, visitors are able to peek into the communications room, which houses the server technology. As a Cisco Gold Certified Partner and Tier 1 Citrix Service Provider partner, Digicel Business has met the requirements for attaining the broadest range of expertise across multiple technologies.

“Much of what we do revolves around the technology we offer and the partnerships we have formed with leading global companies like Cisco, Citrix, and Avaya,” stated Digicel Bermuda Business Solutions Director, Tom O’Neill. “Our data server is a focal point of our business and is suitably a focal point of our new location. There’s no mystery in the quality of our technology. We want clients to be able to see what we are offering.”

A modular conference room adapts to the changing needs of the team and provides an optimal space to demonstrate products to clients so that they can become more comfortable with new technology solutions.

The large work space provides an area for the growing Digicel Business team to work and interact. Currently, twelve employees work full-time within Digicel Business, with additional support from at least a dozen other Digicel Bermuda staff.

Mr. O’Neill continued, “Our team works as a cohesive unit. While each individual brings a unique talent and a special focus to the team, we work collaboratively so that we can present the very best solutions to our clients. The new facility allows us the space we need to interact effectively as we develop these services.”
