Inter-Service Golf Tournament To Benefit Charity

The Bermuda Police Service in partnership with The Bermuda Fire & Rescue Service, The Bermuda Regiment and the Department of Corrections will hold an Inter-Service Golf Tournament to benefit the Bermuda Hospitals Charitable Trust “Why it Matters” campaign.

At today’s press conference highlighting the event Mr. Philip Butterfield, Chairman of the Bermuda Hospitals Charitable Trust, thanked the uniformed services for coming together to support such a worthy cause.

Deputy Commissioner of Police Mike Jackman noted that, “A number of sponsors have come forward so far to support this event, with Auto Solutions donating a car as a prize to any golfer participating in the tournament that scores a hole in one at the 17th hole.”

Retired Chief Fire Officer Vincent Hollinsid indicated that additional sponsorship opportunities were available, starting as low as $130. “Whatever is affordable, we will work with potential sponsors who wish to support our efforts”, he said.

Also in attendance were Warrant Officer Class Two [WO2] Chief Clerk Martin Daley and Captain Graham Benjamin from The Bermuda Regiment, Lt. Leonard Davis from The Bermuda Fire & Rescue Service as well as Inspector Tracy Burgess of the Bermuda Police Service.

The ‘Captain’s Choice’ format tournament will begin promptly at 1pm Friday, October 25th 2013 at Riddell’s Bay Golf & Country Club with a ‘shotgun start.’ There are a number of teams already registered to take part; however any additional teams interested in participating should contact Inspector Burgess at 717-2000.
