Upcoming: National Diabetes Month Events
November is National Diabetes Month and The Bermuda Diabetes Association is kicking it off with a number of events, the first of which is a free shopping tour planned for October 24 to help people find healthy and affordable food choices. With Thanksgiving, Halloween, and the holidays around the corner, The Bermuda Diabetes Association wants to help people choose foods that are good for them while also getting a holiday dinner that’s tasty and affordable.
The tour will be held at Lindos Market in Devonshire, with a Bermuda Diabetes nutritionist on hand to walk participants through food and meal ideas even as everyone in attendance learns to read nutritional information effectively, how to spot the tricks and traps that manufacturers play on consumers, how to determine the healthiest brands of common foods, and how to split purchase choices healthily between the food groups.
Taking place at Lindos Market in Devonshire from 11.00am through 12.15pm on October 24, the Bermuda Diabetes Association sponsored food tour is free to attend. To book your place, please call the Resource Centre at 297-8427. Participants are encouraged to bring along a notepad and camera in order to take notes and pictures that will prove helpful in planning future shopping habits after the tour.
