Man Jailed For 10 Days After Assaulting Officers

November 12, 2013

A 49 year old man was jailed for ten days after admitting assaulting police officers, violently resisting arrest as well as various traffic offences.

Sean Allen appeared in Magistrates Court this morning [Nov 12] where he admitted that on 10th November 2013, he had assaulted two police persons and had violently resisted arrest.

Crown Counsel Susan Mulligan told Senior Magistrate Archie Warner that police officers on patrol had spotted Mr Allen in Warwick. At the time he was dressed in dark clothing, and was riding a pedal cycle but not showing any lights.

Because there had been many burglaries in the area and he was said to be “known” to police, they stopped him.

Asked for ID, Mr Allen gave a false name. Challenged on this, he ran off and was chased. He was caught and during the ensuing struggle he pushed the officers, and the police used Captor Spray to subdue Allen; and arrested him.

Explaining to the Magistrate, Mr Allen said: “My mother didn’t raise me to be like that. I apologize. I was wrong”.

Saying that he would “clean up the slate”, the Senior Magistrate also dealt with traffic offences for which Allen had failed to appear in Court. Mr Allen pleaded guilty to not having a drivers licence and failing to wear a seatbelt, and was fined $100 on each count with ten days to be served if he failed to pay the fines.

10 days for assaulting a police officer. You have to be kidding. Should have been at least 10 months before appeal. What makes it OK to assault a police officer?

You people read too much into these articles and put your own spin into the stories… He is not doing 10 days for assaulting the officer. And you wonder how stories you hear have a 130 degree spin into them. All of you above bloggers read into the first clowns comments and didn’t read the story… Read what the 10 days Mr. Allen is serving for and stop reading into other peoples BS.

“Mr Allen pleaded guilty to not having a drivers licence and failing to wear a seatbelt, and was fined $100 on each count with ten days to be served if he failed to pay the fines.”

You are wrong! He was given 10 days in jail for the assault and will get another 10 days if he does not pay the $100 for the traffic offences!

    • longtail says:

So it would seem: the article says he was fined “$100 on each count with ten days” in lieu, but does not say if this applied to the assault and violently resisting arrest charges as well…..

So he was profiled questioned for being a suspect in a robbery but charged with traffic offences after being seen wearing dark clothes with out a light on a peddle bike nah the police did the right thing???? Not

  8. Bernews says:

To clarify: He was jailed for 10 days for the assault/resisting arrest, and then the judge brought up the old traffic matters and fined $100 on each count with ten days to be served if he failed to pay the fines.
