Traffic Diverted: Cycle Rider Injured In Accident

November 27, 2013

[Updated with photos] A 50-year-old man was injured tonight [Nov 27] when the bike he was riding was involved in a collision with a car on South Road in Paget.

“It appears that a car collided with a cycle at the entrance and this resulted in the Motorcyclist and his passenger being taken to the hospital,” Mr Caines continued.

Police Media Manager Dwayne Caines said: “First responders attended a report of a road traffic collision that took place at 7:26pm on Wednesday evening on South Road in Paget in front of Ice Queen.

“The rider, a 50 year old man is being treated for what is believed to be leg and back injuries and the passenger and the driver of the car were uninjured.

“As a result of this collision traffic has been redirected to Harbor Road and we anticipate the roads to be open soon. Police are appealing for anyone who may have seen this collision to contact police on 295-0011.”

It would appear that better traffic diversion could have helped tremendously in this case…… streams of cars continued to drive through the accident site.

    • frank says:

maybe the police media could alert the radio staions that are on air to get the word out

      • Heniken says:

good idea but I think the stations are basically un manned after 6 or 7pm

False. Some stations have live DJ’s until 10 or 11 p.m.

Actually if you all look closely, the car is turning into Ice Queen and the bike seems to be traveling towards the west end. So this seems to be the classic move of pulling across someone in order to get into Ice Queen. Drivers need to realize when they can pull out (or into) of a gate because I myself have had too many close encounters where the other person just pulls across the lane while staring right at me. And then they wonder why they get some f***s thrown at them…

The perfect decoy….a parked police car with a dummy in the drivers seat…..oops no pun intended LOL

  6. ABM says:

Hmmm the driver of the car appears to be at fault here. Thought that is from just the observation of the pictures of course. Car seemingly turned into the bike rider judging from where the damage on the car is, the rider looks to have swerved in order to avoid hitting the car. Could be wrong, but thats just how it looks to me.
