March 3, 2014

A 19 year old male is in stable condition in the Intensive Care Unit after his motorcycle was involved in a collision with an ambulance in Southampton this weekend.

A police spokesperson said, “Around 4am on Saturday, March 1st first responders were dispatched to a reported two vehicle collision on Middle Road in Southampton near the junction with Riviera Road.

“It appears that an ambulance was being driven along Middle Road and a motorcycle was being ridden along the same road when the vehicles collided.

“The motorcyclist, a 19 year old Southampton man, was injured and taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via another ambulance for treatment.

“At last check, he was in stable condition in the Intensive Care Unit. There were no other injuries reported; however both vehicles were damaged.

“Inquiries into this collision are ongoing and any witnesses are encouraged to contact PC Lesa Stovell at the Somerset Police Station on 234-1010.”

  1. nuffin but the truth says:

Classic!..if ya gonna get smacked on the road, make sure it’s an Ambulance!

  2. smh says:

I don’t mean mean to be judgemental but many people seem to not pull over for emergency vehicles anymore. Just think the ambulance could be rushing to someone you know. Let’s not be selfish, PULL OVER!It’s not worth it.

    • smhagain says:

It’s actually the LAW to pull over for emergency vehicles.

    • YO MAMA says:

Ya Obviously ah retard bie! He PASSED OUT while riding!! So stop being so quick to comment when you don’t EVEN KNOW the bleedy story!! DUMB Bermudian!

      • Smh says:

I wasn’t saying that this young man did it ->(not to be judgemental) but I felt the need to say the comment because I’m sure that even as this man was being rushed to the hospital , many people ignore emergency vehicles on the roads!!! I’m not a dumb Bermudian I’m just making a general comment related to the topic

        • Bum Yujan says:

Sorry but you ARE being judgmental despite your disclaimer because nowhere in the article does it state that the Ambulance had its siren on or that it was responding to an emergency, neither does it state who’s fault it was. It simply says ‘the vehicles collided’. No other circumstances are mentioned so really there’s no way to know what happened for certain. Not to be judgmental but some people jump to conclusions when the sirens in their head go off without even pulling over to stop and think first and allow the passing unfounded thoughts go by.
