Floating Bag Off North Shore Causes Stir

An emergency call made to the Bermuda Maritime Operations Center [BMOC] caused a stir last Friday [May 16] when a St. George’s resident thought something floating off of North Shore could be a body, leading to a short investigation that revealed it to be a black bag.

A BMOC spokesperson said, “The gentleman reports seeing a large object, possibly a body, floating in the water off North Shore. BMOC requests a Police Land Unit to investigate, and further request the Marine Police to the scene.

“Following investigation the object is identified as a empty black bin bag.”
