Mr. Grange — who suffers from short term memory loss — arrived in Bermuda last week and has not been seen since Friday [May 2] evening.

The 67 year old Canadian was staying at the Cambridge Beaches resort in Sandys, and his son John Grange said he thinks his father may have went for a walk and become confused.

A police spokesperson said, “The Bermuda Police Service continues to appeal for the public’s assistance in locating 67 year old Canadian visitor William Grange, who was last seen on the evening of Friday, May 2nd in area of the Cambridge Beaches Resort.

“He was last seen wearing beige pants, a blue shirt, brown jacket and brown shoes and is described as a Caucasian male, 5’9″ tall with white hair, who suffers from short term memory loss.

“Today, additional officers from the Police Support Unit as well as K9 officers with police dogs will be searching for Mr. Grange in the following areas:

  • Willow Bank
  • Cambridge Beaches

This is no doubt a very unsettling experience for his family and friends. I hope they find him confused and living rough in some derelict building instead of the alternative.

To his family and friends, my hopes of his safe return are with you.

tIME TO BRING OUT THE REGIMENT TO ASSIST IN THIS SEARCH.

    • Johnboy says:

That’s actually a very good idea!!

    • Keepin' it Real!...4Real! says:

Oh WoW!!…i can’t believe it!…You mentioned the “Regiment” ooooooww…and didn’t get 1 dislike…i had to rub my eyes and put on my spectacles to make sure what i was seeing, was what i was seeing. hmmmm….

  3. JJ says:

This man has been missing for 4 days. Local, Bermudians have gone missing for longer and have been children and the search has never gone to this extent. I find this odd. Seems like BPS treats tourist with better service than our own.

    • Real Talk (original) says:

      What a truly asinine comment.

There is a huge difference between a local adult or teen who is voluntarily missing and has the additional benefit of knowing the island, people, having access to funds, etc; and a tourist who has no resources or connections, may be suffering from a medical condition and otherwise has absoutely no reason to be missing.

Maybe you could channel your outside the box thinking towards assisting with the search effort.

    • Bozey says:

Why don’t you go missing!! Use your real name so we know not to bother!! To Mr. Grange’s family my prayers are with you..

  4. bdakarma says:

There are a bunch of people “sitting” down at the Cabinet Building doing nothing, maybe they can head towards Somerset and help in the search for Mr. Grange? Surely this can wait one day when every minute is critical in finding this man!

    • DarkSideofTheMoon says:

You turn this family’s bad situation to make a sociopolitical attack…you are a terrible person

      • bdakarma says:

Apologies, that was not my intention at all! I recently lost my father and can only imagine what this poor family is going through. When I was reading the headlines about Mr. Grange following by the Cabinet Office “sit-in” I immediately thought about all those people who could be assisting in the search. The two should not have been related and I apologize. Please keep searching and pray for a happy ending to this terrible situation.

  5. Binky says:

I thought of that too JJ.

Sometimes Bermudians who are missing are known to the Police already as troubled runaways and this often seems to be the case with younger folk we see missing in the media.

When the case is otherwise, where the person’s disappearance is totally out of character or where the person is vulnerable, like this man is, there is a lot more publicity such as when the man fell overboard in Ely’s Harbour last year, or when the man went missing from North Shore a couple of years ago, never to be found.

This man is a visitor to our shores. He is in a foreign country and knows no-one. No-one is “harbouring” him, and he is not consciously evading the police or his family. I pray he is found soon and re-united with his family.

  6. AD says:

Some one I spoke to today said that they called the Police and reported that they saw a man that fit the description (But was shirtless at the time) This was yesterday near St. Anne’s church and the gentleman seemed disorientated….so WHY are they limiting their search to the very west end of the island? This needs to be an island wide search and all Bermudians need to look in their yards and secluded property areas. Hopfully those people who are free this evening can assist in the 6pm search team from Cambridge Beaches!

    • Oh no says:

I am going to be searching soon in the East end. If anyone wants to join me or meet up please let me know.

  7. Assist Me says:

Can the Police publish a map of the areas searched + if Government can introduce a minimum of $5,000 cash reward, it may get more people out looking!

  8. Doubting Thomas says:

Hopefully, he will be found safely tonight. If not does anyone know if there will be more search parties on tomorrow. I couldn’t help today but I will be off of work on Wednesday.

  9. b brooks says:

I am familiar with the family and hope that some relief happens soon, all the best to all .

  10. College student says:

This breaks my heart. I wish I was home so I can help search for him, especially since I’m from Somerset. I have urged my family and friends to help and they have. I really really really hope they find him hiding or some place unharmed. The thought of not knowing where he could be is haunting the family I know. Only thing I can do in California is pray for his safe return. Bless!
