Traffic Advisory Issued For Hamilton Grand Prix
There will be a number of road closures in the city of Hamilton this weekend as the Bermuda Karting Club hosts their Grand Prix on Saturday and Sunday [May 31 & June 1].
A corporation spokesperson said, “The City of Hamilton wishes to advise all businesses, motorists and the general public that Front Street will be completely closed with no parking from Burnaby Street junction to Bermudiana Road on both Saturday, 31st May and Sunday, 1st June from 06:00am until 6:00pm each day.
“Bermudiana Road and Par-la-Ville Road from Church Street to Front Street will also be closed. There will be no access to No.1 Car Park and Albuoy’s Point. The appropriate diversions and signage will be in place.
“Vehicles parked along any of the affected streets will be towed at owner’s expense. The City of Hamilton wishes to apologise to all road users for the inconvenience this may cause.”
Video from the Grand Prix held in Dockyard last year:
This could have been held on Southside where the roads are normally very quiet WITHOUT disrupting the City of Hamilton.
The entire point is to host an event in the city, like in times past. Racing is usually held at Southside. It’s only 2/365 days, if that’s so much of an inconvenience just avoid town.
And Reid Street will dug up? Live the planning involved in this one!!
Don’t forget about the trash truck that requires two lanes to collect trash during rush hour!
Deah closin Hamilton again?…..clampin cars….harbour nights……perhaps buisinesses should move to St.Georges or Dockyard….or carting in go carts could move about the island…or attract international go carting with an island wide venue/race starting at one end and ending …We could call it the never ending race/saga
@Sooo – There is no racing on Reid Street and can we try your comment again in ENGLISH please.
@UM UM Like – What time of the day is RUSH HOUR traffic on a Saturday or Sunday??
I’m loving the idea of this coming into the city. I live in Hamilton and do not have means to get to Southside all the time so this is a welcomed change of venue.
Good luck to all and be safe.
Extremely inconvenient for those of us who have rented boats departing from Albuoy’s Point.
