Montpelier Road Closed Due To Bee Swarm

June 20, 2014

The Montpelier Road area has been closed off to traffic today [June 20] due to a swarm of bees in the area and the road closure will be in effect until the bees have been safely removed.

“The Department of Parks under the auspices of the Ministry of Public Works is advising the public to proceed with caution near the Arboretum.

“A bee swarm has developed and this has resulted in a road closure in the area of Montpelier Road from Middle Road to the roundabout closest to the northern entrance to the Arboretum. This closure has been introduced in the interest of public safety.

“The Department of Parks has deployed employees and beekeepers who are now coordinating the removal of the bees.

“The road closure will be in effect until the bees have been safely removed. The public is advised to avoid this area or find alternative routes near the Arboretum.

“The Ministry would like to apologize for any inconvenience caused by this temporary road closure and will advise the public when the bees have been removed.”
