Scavenger Hunt To Raise Funds For Garry Dill

July 8, 2014

An upcoming scavenger hunt, set to be held from 11.00am through 3.00pm on July 12, 2014, will aim to raise money for Garry Dill, who was diagnosed with a condition that threatens to end his life imminently.

A spokesperson said, “Two decades ago Garry Dill, a husband and father of four, was diagnosed with right ventricular dysplasia; today his condition has progressed to full-blown congestive heart failure.

“He was given four months to live a few months ago, and his only chance of survival is receiving a heart transplant, but there’s a catch, as he and his family will have to move to the United States for at least a year prior to being put on a transplant list.

“Much has been said and some funds have been raised in a bid to save Mr. Dill’s life, but so much more is needed. With this said, Positive Energy organiser Lucinda Worrell-Stowe decided to organise a Scavenger Hunt, which is set to take place on July 12, 2014. This is the first of a series of events with Mr. Dill in mind.

“Mrs. Worrell-Stowe is calling on all of Bermuda to give of their time and energy, as the public’s involvement is what will make this fund-raising event a success.”

“Mr. Dill’s condition dictates that time is of the essence,” she said.

“100 percent of all proceeds from the events will go directly to Mr. Dill’s medical expenses. The scavenger hunt will begin and end at the top of Bull’s Head Car Park,” explained Mrs. Worrell-Stowe.

“All participants must be at the car park no later than 10.45am to receive the Scavenger Hunt guidelines and scavenger list. All teams must return to the car park not a minute after 3.00pm. There must be at least four people in each car and each additional participant is asked to donate $10, so grab a few friends, workmates or family members, give your team a name, and go for it.

“The team with the most creative name will win a special prize. Let’s have fun and spread the word, as the more participants we secure the more successful this event will be.”

“Aside from doing a good deed, Mrs. Worrell-Stowe explained that participants also have a chance of winning four VIP and four general admission tickets to the Machel Montano concert, four tickets to the Tarrus Riley concert, and reduced prices on general admission tickets.

“On behalf of Mr. Dill and his family, Mrs. Worrell-Stowe thanked the public in advance for their time and generosity. To participate, email lucindaenergy@hotmail.com or call 295-9779 for an application form and additional information.

“For those that cannot attend the event, but would still like to assist, donations can be made by depositing to The Garry Dill Fund at HSBC account number 002 131753 012.”

Wonderful that the community is coming together for this! Sad that insurance won’t cover normal medical expenses of a human being.
