Traffic Delays Heading To The West End

October 13, 2014

[Updated] The Bermuda Police Service [BPS] is advising the public to expect traffic congestion at the junction of Middle Road and South Road in Paget, as the Paget traffic lights are still out of order following damage caused by Tropical Storm Fay, resulting in significant delays, particularly for those traveling from the west end.

A police spokesperson said, “Police officers are on hand at that location to ensure traffic flows as smoothly and safely as possible. At this time it is recommended that motorists traveling from the west end use South Road if possible.

“A section of Harbour Road from The Lane to Manse Road, Paget is still impassable and we encourage commuters to avoid that area until further notice.

“In addition, all motorists should follow any instructions from police officers monitoring traffic flow and take note of any traffic diversions due to plant debris or other obstructions in the road.”

Update 6.24pm: The EMO said, “Motorists are encouraged to avoid Harbour Road as there are repair works taking place.”

  1. um just saying says:

I think that businesses should have remained closed, and traffic urged to stay off the roads, so that work crews could’ve gotten their work of clearing the roads done without added traffic congestion.

  2. Sharon Davis says:

I agree, the Island should have closed in order for the road works and clean-up to be completed. Harbour Road is is not fully opened, there is much work to be done. Anyway I am not the one in charge.

Thank you Bernews for you coverage before and after Gonzalo.
For those Bermudians living abroad, your coverage was a big relief.
For a direct hit, our Island has been really blessed, it could have been a lot worse.
    Be thankful for God’s blessings.
