Footy Promotions Hosts “Futsal In The City”
Footy Promotions hosted their “Futsal In the City” youth tournament on Saturday December 20, 2014 at the Mount Saint Agnes Gymnasium.
The tournament saw more than 80 players participate in two age groups. Players were able to come with friends and play on the same team or come individually and choose their team on arrival.
The first age group was for 8-11-year-old players. The teams that participated were Social Club, Ballers, Just for Kicks, Fireflies, and FF.
In the semi-finals, Social Club beat FF 1-0 and Just for Kicks beat the Ballers 1-0 to advance to the finals. In the finals, Social Club beat Just for Kicks 1-0 to be crowned the “Futsal In the City” Youth Cup Champions.
The second age group was for 12-16-year-old players. The teams that participated were Just for Kicks II, AllStars, CS Boys, and Indoor AllStarz.
In this group, the top two teams in the group automatically advanced to the finals, while the remaining teams played a third place playoff. The third place playoff was a very exciting match between Just for Kicks II and Indoor Allstarz.
It was no score in regular time, which forced the game into two minutes overtime. The score was then tied at 1-1. However, Indoor Allstarz won on penalty kicks.
In the final, AllStars defeated CS Boys 5-1 to be crowned the “Futsal In the City” Teen Cup Champions.
