Woman Denies Importing 4.85lbs Cannabis
Appearing in Magistrates Court today [Jan 30], a 27-year-old woman denied importing and possessing cannabis which the Court said had a value of up to $112,000.
Ms Tahiyyah Muwwakkil pleaded not guilty to importing and possessing cannabis with intent to supply, with the offences alleged to have occurred in August 2014.
Magistrate Khamisi Tokunbo was told by the Prosecutor that the value of the cannabis [which was alleged to be just over 2,200 grams or around 4.85 pounds] was said to be between $48,000 and $112,000.
Ms Muwwakkill was granted bail at $15,000 with one surety, required to surrender her travel documents, and report to Hamilton Police Station. She will go on trial in May 2015.
