Port Royal Student Raising Money For Charity

March 11, 2015

Port Royal Primary School student Sauco Eve is aiming to raise $1,000 for the St. Baldrick’s Foundation, with students and adults from the school community rallying to support his cause today [Mar 11], raising $755 in the process.

A school spokesperson said, “Sauco Eve, one of our primary five students, has decided that he would like to raise $1,000 for the St. Baldrick’s Foundation.

“This charity is a volunteer-driven charity committed to funding the most promising research to find cures for childhood cancers and give survivors long, healthy lives.

“Additionally, Sauco has pledged to let his hair grow and will have his head shaved on Friday, March 13, 2015.

“He will donate his hair to ‘Locks of Love’. ‘Locks of Love’ is a public non-profit organization that provides hairpieces to financially disadvantaged children under age 21 suffering from long-term medical hair loss from any diagnosis.”

“Today, Port Royal Primary School students were invited to participate in a special grub day to raise funds to assist Sauco in meeting his target.

“Students and adults wishing to participate in this fundraiser were invited to bring a minimum donation of $2, and to wear something purple or blue, Sauco’s favorite colours, to show support of him and his efforts.

“The students and staff were able to raise $755 to help Sauco toward his target. We celebrate the giving spirit of this young man, and encourage our students as they do their part in making a difference for others.”

I wonder how much money could be raised if Gov’t held $10 grub days, at the end of each month, for their employees to help raise funds for the economy. It may not be alot, but half a loaf is better than no loaf.
