Reverend Bernice King To Speak At ESTU Event
Rev. Bernice King, the daughter of legendary civil rights leader Dr. Martin Luther King, will be speaking at the Electricity Supply Trade Union [ESTU] dinner at the Fairmont Southampton on May 2nd.
A spokesperson said, “April 11, 1965 marks the start of the Electricity Supply Trade Union, and on May 2, 2015 the Union and its members celebrates 50 years of service with the hourly employees of BELCO and Bermuda Gas.
“ESTU is proud to present a formal dinner and award show designed to reflect, excite, recuperate and entertain attendees.
“The event will be held at the Fairmont Southampton Hotel in the Mid- Ocean Amphitheatre, and door opens at 6:00 p.m. for registration, photos and hors d’oeuvres.”
“Show starts 7:00 p.m. prompt and will feature Bermuda’s own Trokia, Ameina Lewis, world-renowned Rev. Bernice King, daughter of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and so much more.
“In addition to hosting a formal event, the members of the Electricity Supply Trade Union will be volunteering with the Coalition for the Protection & Salvation of Children with Eliza Dolittle during the week of April 27- May 1, 2015.
“The Electricity Supply Trade Union was born out of the 1965 BELCO riots where the Bermuda Industrial Union bravely came to the aid of BELCO employees.
“After what was deemed one of Bermuda’s more prolific industrial actions came to an end, it was agreed that BELCO would allow the workers to establish an internal union, which now services over 180 industrious men and women that work for BELCO and Bermuda Gas.
“Fifty years has gone by so quickly, and we could not be happier with the progress that ESTU has made in terms of union relations,” said Robin Richardson, Vice President.
“We have so many people to thank and this event will give us an opportunity to publicly thank those who have assisted us over the years as well as highlight the members of the Electricity Supply Trade Union,” added Mr. Richardson
Tickets go on sale on April 6, 2015 and can be purchased at Kit N Caboodles, Fabulous Fashions or delivery by calling 400-5634.

Must say I am surprised at a member of this great family coming back again after what happened last time.
I guess the organisers must be paying in advance.
