Raleigh’s ‘Brave Conversations’ On May 16th
Raleigh Bermuda will host a Brave Conversations session on May 16 to help parents understand and guide young people’s spending habits and financial decisions.
A spokesperson said, “Raleigh Bermuda is continuing its Brave Conversations series with an interactive parent-focused session designed to help families better understand young people’s spending habits, financial decision-making, and behaviours in today’s world.
“Brave Conversations: Navigating Young People’s Spending for Parents will take place on Saturday, May 16th, 2026 from 10:00am – 1:00pm at a central location shared upon registration.
“Designed for parents and guardians of young people ages 14+, the session combines practical budgeting guidance with brain-based insight to help parents navigate conversations around saving, spending, impulse purchases, habits, and long-term financial behaviours.
“The session will feature guest speaker Budget Buddy, a Bermuda-based budgeting service that supports individuals and families in developing healthier money habits through practical and realistic budgeting strategies.
“Parents will also explore how adolescent and young adult brains respond to rewards, habits, social pressure, and financial decision-making, while gaining practical tools to support healthier financial conversations at home.”
“Many parents are trying to prepare young people for adulthood, but money conversations can often feel overwhelming or difficult to navigate,” said Denae D. Burchall. “We often tell young people to save their money or make better financial choices without always teaching the practical skills needed to do so and many adults are still navigating those habits themselves. This session is about creating honest, practical conversations that help families build healthier financial habits together.”
The spokesperson said, “The event forms part of Raleigh Bermuda’s broader Brave Conversations initiative, which creates spaces for open community dialogue around issues impacting young people.
“Registration is open via info@raleigh.bm or the registration link Participants are invited to make a cash donation of their choosing to support Raleigh Bermuda’s youth development programmes.

Nothing brave about this at all but ridiculous you’re going to tell ur kids how to save in an economy that’s the most expensive in the world where people can’t find jobs or apartments. We need a statue of David gibbons and Jack Sharpe who made Bermuda affordable. No gp cars or 18 percent pay rises for them but for greedy PLP ministers which is why we are in the mess we in.Bring down the cost of living first then have this discussion.
Are you harking back to the days when Ministers were not paid 6 figure salaries and our Premier rode his personal motorbike on official business?
