Photos: Kardias Club Holds “Tea With A Twist”
[Updated with photos] The ladies of the Kardias Club [charity #51] hosted their annual “ Tea with a Twist” on Saturday at the Mid Ocean Club with over 140 ladies, dressed festively in hats and gloves to enjoy high tea and an afternoon of fashion, fellowship and fun.
“This year’s MC was the very entertaining Darlene Hartley. Guest of Honourable mention was Cultural Icon, and Tradition Bearer Ruth Thomas, longtime MC for the event,” a spokesperson said.
“One of the highlights for the afternoon’s affair was The Summer Solstice Fashion Show which showcased fashions from two local Boutiques; Best of Bermuda Awardee, 27th Century Boutique who is also celebrating 40 years in the business, Revelation Boutique which offered the latest trends in dresses.

“Also a phenomenal international collection by the Nannini Group wholesale fashions. Sharon Taylor Nannini had a spray of garments introducing designers from Italy and Sweden and beautiful handmade Jewelry by local, Donna Pink. Makeup Artists, Janae Foley and Davika Hill donated their time and talents.
“The ladies were served a delicious menu of a variety of finger sandwiches and cakes along with scones, jam and clotted cream. Tea was served along with the twist of a glass of bubbly! The ladies were serenaded by Violinist April Maule and the wonderful background music of Pianist Vernon Douglas.
“Grand Door Prizes were donated by Digicel Bermuda and Watlington & Conyers Travel.
“The President of the Kardias Club Charity#51, Tammy Gibbons highlighted the work the Kardias Club and proudly stated their contribution to the Bermudian community being measured by more than 50 years of service and monetary donations of more than a half a million dollars.
“The Kardias Club hosts many events Valentines Wine/Beer Tasting, White Elephant Sale and Summer Party Under The Stars to name a few. This year the Kardias Club will be launching The Kardias Debutante Cotillion 2016,.
“This programe will run for 10 months and welcomes young ladies of excellence from the class before their graduating year. These ladies will be embraced and groomed in the society of philanthropy all culminating into a June ball.
President Tammy Gibbons said, “The funds raised from the Tea further advance the Kardias Club’s charitable endeavors in the community” The Kardias club would like to thank the attendees, participants, sponsors and the 4 lovely year 10 students of Warwick Academy who assisted. The Kardias Club’s chosen charity, this year, is The Hospitals Charitable Trust.
