Photos: Bermuda Red Cross Celebrates 65 Years

October 1, 2015

The Bermuda Red Cross held an open house at 9 Berry Hill Road in Paget earlier this week, celebrating 65 years of service to the island community.

Light refreshments were served, with those in attendance learning about the Red Cross’ work in the community, past and present.

A spokesperson said, “Most of the people that attended the Open House did not know about all of the services we offered.

“The services that were highlighted included our Equipment Rentals Department, providing rental of a full range of health care items and baby equipment; Transport Service, providing free transportation for the elderly and indigent members of our community; and the Golden Hour Club, giving seniors opportunity to gather for fellowship, education and entertainment by providing funding to enable bi-weekly activities.

“There is also the Thrift Shop, providing affordable clothing and accessories for men, women and children; Disaster Management, which empowers communities to take charge of their own recovery; Training people who are in need of CPR, First Aid, AED, Basic Water Rescue, Pool Lifeguarding, Psychological First Aid, and so much more.

“We would like to thank the attendees that did weather the rain to come and learn of our services. We would also like to thank the volunteers for coming out to help showcase our services.”
