BFRS Respond To Two Fires In The East End
At approximately 1:09pm today [Nov 18] the Bermuda Fire and Rescue Service responded to a report of “smoke issuing” from a residence in St. David’s.
A BFRS spokesperson said, “On our arrival we found there had been a grease fire. The quick actions of the resident placing the top on the flaming pot, extinguished the fire preventing any serious damage.
“Firefighters then assisted with ventilating the residence to remove the smoke. There were no injuries; however, there was minor smoke and heat damage to the surrounding area.”
Then at approximately 7:25pm, they responded to a report of a brush fire on St. George’s Golf Course.
Fire Service spokesperson Sergeant Russann Francis reported that “The Bermuda Fire and Rescue Service responded to the incident with 2 fire vehicles staffed with 6 personnel.
“On arrival they discovered an area of brush approximately 20’ x 20’ fully involved in fire. Two firefighters dressed in breathing apparatus extinguished the fire using 1 ½ hose lines.
“Once the fire was brought under control, the fire crew remained on scene to extinguish any hot-spots to prevent the potential of re-ignition.”
