PLP: ‘Report Is Not Only Untrue, But Malevolent’
The report that Progressive Labour Party Leader Marc Bean narrowly won an internal vote for leadership is “not only untrue, but malevolent,” the PLP said today.
A spokesperson said, “The report running in the media that the Progressive Labour Party Leader, The Hon. Marc Bean, last night narrowly won an internal vote for leadership is not only untrue, but malevolent.
“The power within the PLP to replace a leader lies with the party delegates, not the caucus, and as such no vote was taken within caucus regarding Mr. Bean’s leadership as has been claimed.”
Victims of misinformation.
Well, the only “malevolent” people who could have started the rumour, are the people who were there.
Many stories are fabricated, or exaggerated to cause unnecessary tension or strife in an organization.
I wish the oba would get on with fixing what they say are plp failures and spend less time trying to pull down the Opposition Leader.
Based on the paranoia, desperation of the oba to character assignate my political Leader, I am incline to vote for him based on just that fact.
LOL Rhonda! What on earth has this got to do with the OBA?
“Based on the paranoia, desperation of the oba to character assignate my political Leader, I am incline to vote for him based on just that fact.”
Like a good little sheep.
Didn’t you know Rhonda is the queen of OBA bashing? Listen to the chat show.
@Rhonda, we are very familiar with fabricated or exaggerated stories, we had 14 years of them.
It will take awhile to fix the PLP failures. Its impossible to erase over a billion dollars in debt, unless you know where the $800 million in unaccounted for money went? Yes $800 million …missing!?!?!?. WTF!
The people of Bermuda are not stupid. $800 million missing means either
a) there was theft involved
b) misappropriation of funds and / or bad accounting practices
c) incompetence
Unless you know of another reason why $800 million is missing, I’m sorry but I would rather not see another 5 years of PLP ruling this country.
I voted for the PLP before and split my vote between PLP and UBP back in he days when we had two votes but that was a different PLP. Not one that placed power in front of people.
With Marc running the show and the leader again it is clear that either the PLP membership fears him or they think like him! No thanks. I will vote OBA. Oh, and by the way, I’m pretty sure you support him because he is either a friend, family or you are a PLP supporter regardless. Don’t worry, nobody is perfect.
so church folk ??? I guess Lambe gave the PLP a lambasting.
Have you ever told a story and after the third or forth person what was heard in the beginning is not even there.
The use of ‘malevolent’ says it all, they only pull out the big words when they want to distract and cover things up
Thank you Bernews.
If attendance at the Delegates Banquet is a good barometer, MP Bean has a strong following since the venue was full. Bishop Lambe is a strong draw also but we must give recognition where recognition is due.
its over….next
P.L.P
I think it is time for Marc Bean to step down ,and I would like to see Kim Wilson take over.
Where you one of them who wanted Paula Cox, only to tear her down worse than Dr, Brown.
Want a say in who the plp leaders are, join the party and do the work to get whomever you want elected.
I am not a PLP supporter but most people know Paula got a raw deal. Her problem was that she inherited a sinking ship from Dr. Brown and even though she was the leader she obviously never truly led. Strong influence and persuasion from the membership and lack of real support from within was obvious. She was and is a good person, with morals and vision. She was an obvious was a scapegoat for the real problem PLP children, and while she was leader by name we know who really led from the back.
She took a suckers bet and did the best with what she was left with. Meanwhile while she became the poster child for the PLP the three amigos, Brown, Burch and Burgess quietly snuck away an left her holding the bag.
Had she been leader and been able to guide on her own we would have seen a different style of leadership from the leadership. She never had a chance! If they would allow that to happen to her, what chance do the rest of us have?
All a direct result of the failing dynamic that is at the hidden heart of the PLP, the fact that they are a amalgamation of far right and far left ideologists joined for political purposes of not being able to garner enough votes apart. PLP’s history is rife with incidents of those tensions showing themselves again and again, tensions inherent from the incompatibility of the 2 ideologies and the egos driving them.
Paula Cox had no choice, if she had decided enough is enough she would have been axed. Smart move, she got her Premiership and the Party is intact. The only losers are the people and Bermuda.
Just a cog in the wheel. Only following orders.
She was the Finance Minister for nearly a decade. She drove the car into the ditch.
YA A REAL BINFORD, GIRL!
GO DRNIK SOME TEA
TOODLES!
She is not the bringer of light many credit her with !
Marge , I think it’s time for Micheal Dunkeley to step down , and I would like to see Nandi Davis take over .
LOL,, You made my day Coffee..
@ Marge,Like you have interest in Kim Wilson or P.L.P affairs, you and everyone would like for a no nonsense
and fearless Leader to be replaced for a less tolerant and Feminine Leader (but I think its not a bad choice) and in the future she may be.
HOWEVER in this day and time it’s Mark’s turn in leading the PEOPLE in a long line of P.L.P Leaders whom had the Historical and Heroic task off representing a PEOPLE who against ALL odds, endured hardships and injustice.
That’s the problem with a certain segment in this or any society, is when a fearless, strong leader(especially a Black Leader in a Eurocentric society) they are an immediate threat and want them eliminated (which was practiced in U.S. History) and be replaced by a passive, emasculated figure.
With ALL the Gates and corruption ALLEGATIONS, we need someone who is not afraid to call a spade, a spade.
We have many black leaders in this Eurocentric society, pull up your pants man!
Even if Kim Wilson was leader, the white membership still would not increase.
I find that certain segments of the community desire leaders who are similar to themselves. A PLP Leader should be the decision of the delegates.
Zevon makes a very good point–are we seeing external evidence of discontent within the PLP party apparatus?
um
who cares and what article.
meh
So you click on the article, read it, then comment, then ask who cares? I normally scroll straight cross when I don’t care..
Who cares!
I do for one. A strong opposition is a good opposition, and that means good for Bermuda. Right now the PLP are not strong, or anywhere even close to an alternative government. All remnants of any connection with the previous administration needs to be removed before they can become relevant again.
Bean probably

Does anyone know what happen when Mr. Bean and his group went to England.
Mr. Bean has expressed some very good ideas about us as a people, and how we can do better for ourselves.
Marc Bean will no longer lead the PLP, when plp members say so. Not before.
Much like Dame Jennifer??
Or when the people say so. We are the ones paying his wage.
Or do the PLP not listen to the people only when they are the Government.
Here comes Zane,
Let’s be frank.
Do you or anyone else honesty believe the PLP would elect a white Bermudian to the position of Party Leader?
Mr.Jinks Darrell has a better chance than Zane.
Not a hope in hell, but I bet you Zane thinks he would get the job one day.
Is it true that Walton is trying to take over?
Or maybe Flip Flop wants to be opposition leader again?
Leave Marc Bean as leader of the plp,it’s good news for the OBA.
I think we should get in Zane.
When are the PRESS and others come to the realization they are constantly being had by these purposeful leaks from the PLP.
All nothing but drama to stir the political pot, a typical orchestrated
prank. You won`t see any member/s come to the fore.
Where there is smoke, there is fire. Keep watching.
That would be funny!
People’s aspirations for this island are sooooo clichè…mann! its mind boggling…I think that’s why they get elected…The shadow govt. Which every political party has one…It all depends whos carrying the most clout…wants and need dummies to connect their strings to…DON’T be a thinker because there’s nothing more scary than a puppet who can think for himself…away with them!.
Basically and the Bottom line is…don’t think you are gonna have your way on this island coz your way has been designed by someone that you dont know a long time ago.
Thank God it was not mischievous …or is malevolent worse?… PLP irrelevant so who really cares? I hope Bean stays forever
Wow, goos spin PLP/ BUT the truth is that a good number of the Parliamentary Group want this loose cannon out and do not believe they can win an election with him as leader! Probably right! Don’t make it sound that all is rose when Bean is clearly under fire!
only to find out that with the resignation of Blakeney the report was true…..so not malevolent after all…once again the PLP is confused regarding truth and malevolence……
