Photos & Video: George Duckett Memorial Rugby

Yesterday [Jan 9], the Bermuda Police Rugby Football Club hosted the George Duckett Memorial Rugby Tournament at Police Field in Prospect.

George Duckett was a former Commissioner of Police who was assassinated in 1972. Mr. Duckett was a larger than life Commissioner who had a commanding presence and stood at 6’5” tall and was well known as an ardent rugby fan.

In 1973, the Bermuda Police Rugby Section commenced an annual memorial game which is at present the longest running memorial game in Bermuda.

The Men’s Bermuda Police Rugby Football Club Second XV defeated the Under 19 Select and then the Men’s Bermuda Police Rugby Football Club First XV took on a Bermuda Select.
