Court: 22-Yr-Old Woman Admits Resisting Arrest

February 8, 2016

Appearing in Magistrates Court this morning [Feb 8], a 22-year-old woman pleaded guilty to violently resisting arrest, with the Court hearing the Police were called in as she attended her ex-boyfriend’s house and was on the roof.

Southampton resident Ms Coreen Scott pleaded guilty to violently resisting arrest on 7th February 2016.

The Crown Prosecutor told Magistrate Khamisi Tokunbo that Ms Scott had gone to her ex-boyfriend’s Devonshire residence and then made her way onto an outside roof.

The ex-boyfriend’s grandfather and the ex-boyfriend had tried to get her to come back inside. They did not succeed and police were called in.

The Crown Prosecutor said that Police witnesses noted that Ms Scott smelt strongly of alcohol.

Eventually police sought to get her inside the residence and off the property but she had violently resisted them and had ended up on the ground kicking at the Police. Ms Scott was eventually removed from the property and put in a Police car.

Magistrate Tokunbo ordered Social Inquiry and Bermuda Assessment and Referral Centre reports, set sentencing for March 2016, and granted Ms Scott $1,000 bail.
