  1. This government is a total joke. They pretend to be democratic…giving people a CHANCE to speak. They are determined to mess with OUR CHILDREN’S LIVES. I might add, it will be done with lack of care, concern or regard for THE CHILDREN.

Where is Dunkley in the midst of the storm? Oh! I know . Fehy does all of the dirty, direct, callous work!!
Dunkley uses our own people as a deterrent to change our thoughts off of HIM!!!!

    • hmmm says:

What kind of sick trip are you on?

Education is absolute crap 14 yrs of nothing from the PLP have left it in a mess.

The OBA are having to pick up the pieces. How about you applaud them for once and point your ire at those that did NOTHING for 14 years !!!!!!

Those kids robbing and joining gangs are product of the PLP, those kids dying on bikes are products of the PLP..those kids holding guns are product of the PLP……

Wake up already….before you get caught up in the PLP propaganda.

  2. Concerned says:

Trusting that persons who are former students, present students and families will be out in full attendance.
I would suggest school colors be worn by all.

  3. JUNK YARD DOG says:

Education as it is referred to in this country does not take our children very far.

Quite possibly upbringing and culture has some to do with it, as our primary source of knowledge was imparted by our parents who by the way should up date and re – attend class or at least learn to play the game Monopoly with real money,to appreciates its value.

Every child’s education is important, but unfortunately not every child can be taught the same skills, because each and every person is not the same scholastically, some will go on the be successful in the trades. Where is the Bermuda Government apprentice ship program starting at the age of 14, there will be some school buildings coming on line soon, ripe for industry.

This is 2016 people employers only hire the best.

If you are looking to find blame of which there is plenty to go round for the failures, look no further than the head teacher who should instill enthusiasm and desire, it is not what you teach it is how you teach it.

” If the ship sinks hold the Captain responsible”.

May be ” The system” after many failed attempts to put right is still, to put it bluntly, flawed and not working as well compared to more advanced countries. Some times I wounder if our hot climate has something to do with it.

” To much play makes Jack a dull boy.”

To answer the question. What is the difference between the private school and the public school ?

    Well ?

That difference depends on the ability of the teacher and parents, and further depends on the subjects taught, lastly on the ability of the student to absorb knowledge, further more, what is the end result as that young person finished last day of school, did they fail because we failed to identify all the problems and deal with them.

  4. surprisedanddisappointed says:

I am astounded by how passive many current Primary School parents are in the face of huge changes to their children’s education. Once the deed is done – and the SCORE so-called ‘scenarios’ have been twisted and manipulated to fit the plan that was made last year – it is too late to whine and bump your gums.

Get fired up Bermuda – you’ve been parents, you are parents and your children will be parents. We should be fighting these changes and coming up with alternatives.

Break free from your sofas, smart phones and self-centeredness for a few weeks and bloody well support your PTAs and your local schools.

A quick cash-grab from sales of badly-maintained school buildings ain’t going to raise much short-term money, sacking a few teachers ain’t going to save much money. Sending children miles out of parish to other schools has ramifications on all sorts of infrastructures.

Why not sack some of your thousands of Government employees? Or privatise something? And then invest money raised into your children, who are, after all, the future of the country.
