Police Confirm Death Of Diogenes Carpio
The Bermuda Police Service has identified the crewman that died following an incident at a cruise ship in Dockyard yesterday [July 20] as 41-year-old Filipino national Diogenes Carpio.
A police spokesperson said, “Mr. Carpio, a Filipino national, was one of four crewman involved in an incident that occurred onboard the cruise ship Norwegian Breakaway berthed at King’s Wharf in Dockyard around 11:59am Wednesday, when a lifeboat broke from its tethering and fell into the water.
“The three other crewmen injured include another 41 year old Filipino man, who has been flown overseas for further medical treatment in the United States, as well as a 25 year old Romanian man and a 31 year old man from India, who were treated and discharged from the hospital.
“The Government’s Health and Safety Officer and the Department of Maritime Administration are continuing enquiries into the circumstances of this incident.”
