Public Meeting On Airport Redevelopment Project
The People’s Campaign will host a public meeting on the Airport Redevelopment Project tomorrow evening, Thursday, December 1, at 6:00 p.m. at St. Paul’s Centennial Hall.
The speakers for the meeting will be Opposition Leader David Burt, Larry Burchall and BIU President Chris Furbert, with Rev. Nicholas Tweed to serve as the moderator.
The debate on the airport legislation is scheduled to take place in the House of Assembly on Friday.
Will the PLP come up with an alternative plan?
They have. Borrow a hundred million or so to repair the existing terminal and hope it might last another ten years – then borrow hundreds of millions more and build a new terminal. Borrow, spend, borrow, spend and make taxpayers pay for it. Bob calls it the ‘expensive Band-Aid approach’.
And if that plan were to go ahead – Bermuda would be broke, likely default on the billions of dollars we owe and we will all be left fighting over bananas and bibblers.
You’re missing the point. As David V. Burch says, keep the existing airport for 10 years and create 1,000 jawbs for de boys to keep fixing it. Not sure how they are paid as there is no money, but who cares.
nice – stack the panel with nah-sayers so no one on the panel can defend the miss-information that’s going to be spread.
Sounds more like a call-to-arms to march the house on Friday.
Like how the deck is stacked with this lynchmob kangaroo court fiasco!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
LoL…what are you talking about?
Um talking about the Commission of Inquires an old South Africa Apartheid tactic.
@Onion Juice
when they concede to bending rules as retribution- it can hardly be called a fiasco
It’s the Robin Hood scenario… just rewritten “steal from everybody and give to friends and family”…
Yes there 500 million dollar airport less the over runs.
Don’t forget to include the cost of financing it !
Boy! I’m just tired of all of this! Politics! I need work! Start the dam airport!
So you’re not a recipient of the America’s Cup trickle down effect.
LMFAO
Pretty sure you got some trickle down your leg.
Made you look.
#1 on tomorrow’s agenda. What time should we all be making on the hill Friday morning?
#2 Will there be coffee?
#3 When are the gombey’s playing?
ya, called that yesterday when I read it. What else do you think will come out of a meeting made up of “Opposition Leader David Burt, Larry Burchall and BIU President Chris Furbert, with Rev. Nicholas Tweed to serve as the moderator”….. gonna be a long Friday….waiting to see how they spin it to get a Union work stoppage needed to lead the march on the Hill…. how does Furbert and Tweed sell that one….or does Burt continue to brand it as selling our Airport to a Canadian firm….
SMH
All the Pro-Airport Build supporters should attend this meeting and shout down the speakers so they do not have a chance to get their message out – Isn’t that what happened before when the Government tried to get their message out thru a public meeting? Fair-is-Fair
OH SO TRUE. But then some of us are cultured and brought up to respect and listen or be heard
I hope they do, that would be interesting.
Perhaps those who support will recognize the right to hold such a meeting a will be respectful of those who choose to attend?
well there is a well rounded, un biased, elequant.,fair non political, pro one sided Bermuda highly un motivated ( our way is the only way and we wont listen to reason )lost in the woods panel. I am sure us with the other side of the coin view would be most welcome to attend. I am sure all are welcome ONLY IF THEY SUPPORT THE PANEL. What could Mr UNION FuRBERT contribute in a logical well spoken point to this conversation. GOD HELP US ALL
Fair-is fair they should try it.
Why are we allowing a foreigner on a work permit [Tweed] to interfere in our affairs?
Freedom of speech?
The NO NO NO NO NO NO crowd keeping Bermuda unprogressive and standing weak for Bermudians
this project will employ many bermudians… plp projects bankrupted bermuda…
Why do they refer to themselves as the people’s campaign?
it was a typo…it is the PLP’s Campaign.
This nonsense isn’t going to stop until we get out there in greater numbers than them. The problem is that the majority who don’t feel like them, have real jobs to attend and cannot take the time for this nonsense. But there will be a breaking point, I promise you that. I for one am tired of a tiny minority holding our country hostage.
PlPeoples campaign is whack. take a break you sheep. baaaaa
Perhaps all the Pro Airport supporters (ie. everyone other than the PLPeoples campaign) should show up at the meeting chanting ‘YES! YES! YES!’ whenever someone tries to speak. betcha chaos would ensue.
