Sunday December 18th: “Good News” Spotlight

News that Bermuda will host three ITU World Triathlon Series events, Frommer’s named Bermuda a ‘best place to go in 2017,” Dage Minors was named the Northeast-10 Conference Men’s Athlete of the Week, and People’s Pharmacy opened a second location in the Acute Care Wing of KEMH were all some of the positive news stories from the past week.

Other good news stories included Rebecca Faulkenberry getting set to star in Broadway’s ‘Groundhog Day’, a new contemporary gift store opening in Hamilton,  Bermuda swimmers setting new national records, and Dale Butler releaseing “The Book of Bermuda Nicknames.”

In additional good news, Saltus, Chatmore, Harrington Sound, and HSBC all provided donations to the Salvation Army, LOM Financial donated $3,030 to the Coalition for the Protection of Children, Sancho Jackson received the Kathleen Faries Award for Community Service, and Tabata-Ha Shotokan Karate-Do donated children’s books to charity.

Other positive news included Kacey Scotland selected for Surrey CCC Under-13 girls winter training squad, author Rod Farrington & Gorham’s give back to island’s youth, Nahki Wells scores game winner for Huddersfield & scores against Bristol City, and Jonte Smith scores in victory over East Grinstead.

We also posted various community photo galleries, including coverage of the 2016 Goodwill Golf Tournament, the ‘Big Shoebox Giveaway’ for Big Brothers Big Sisters, the North Village Rams defeat Somerset Eagles, the BAC Jingle Bell 5K Road Race,  $240,000 donated in “Dollars for Hours”, the International Moth Regatta,  the Kwanzaa & Christmas Market underway,  and the Argus Community Day At Sandys School.
