LOM Financial Donates $3,030 To Coalition

December 13, 2016

Local financial services company LOM Financial presented a cheque for $3,030 to the Coalition for the Protection of Children [CPC] on Thursday, December 8th.

$1,515 of the funds were raised through a raffle organised by LOM staff as part of their Christmas initiative and the company then matched raffle proceeds to bring the total donation amount to $3,030.

Cheryl Watts, Compliance Manager at LOM, said “We strive to give back to the community each year in a meaningful way. Since Christmas is usually all about the children we decided that we wanted to donate to a children-focused charity.

“Together the staff chose to donate to the Coalition for the Protection of Children because they have such a positive impact on Bermuda’s children.”

LOM sponsored a number of the raffle prizes including the grand prize gold coin. The company said they would also like to thank the generous sponsors who donated prizes for the raffle including: MEF, The Reefs, Auto Solutions, The Island Shop, KFC and David Barker.

The donation will specifically help to support the Coalition’s ‘Breakfast for Every Child’ program which provides breakfast for children in Bermuda.

The onsite breakfast program was launched in 2007 at Victor Scott Primary School and has since expanded to include 12 schools in response to the increasing need for food assistance. By providing a consistent meal for children each morning, the Coalition ensures that those children have a healthy start to their day.

Kelly Hunt, Executive Director of the Coalition, said “We would like to thank LOM for their generous donation. The Coalition is not a government funded charity, so without the support of the local community we wouldn’t be able to provide the services that we do to help Bermuda’s children.

“We are thankful to the LOM staff for choosing to donate to our school breakfast programme.”
