Kiwanis St George Backs Girls Football Team

When the Bermuda select girls’ football team heads for the United States next month they will have the moral backing of Bermuda – not the least of this support comes from the Kiwanis Club of St George.

The club is backing the football team in a very tangible way, to the tune of a $2,000.00 donation towards the team’s expenses. The team will be in the Baltimore area for about a week of intense training sessions and game action, and they will also participate in some community work.

Kiwanis Club President Scarlett Pottinger said that with the organization’s main thrust of “serving the children of the world” this girls’ football team afforded the club the opportunity to make a definitive contribution to the growth and progress of these young ladies, both in a sporting sense and in general development.

Football Coach Naquita Robinson said that in addition to the team’s own training sessions, they would also be hosting a few training sessions aimed at promoting football amongst young folks in Baltimore.
