Photos: Parliament Convenes & Throne Speech

Marking the first Throne Speech since the PLP won the election, the Convening of Parliament took place this morning [Sept 8], with Governor John Rankin delivering the 2017 Throne Speech, which outlines the Government’s Legislative Agenda for the year ahead.

Some of the initiatives unveiled in this morning included establishing an Economic Diversification Unit, transforming the ACBDA into the Bermuda Event Authority, establishing a Bipartisan Committee on Immigration Reform, installing wi-fi in schools, officially ending conscription, decriminalising cannabis possession for amounts under 7 grams, and investing in new buses.
