    Why am I not surprised?!

  2. Dymo says:

And still bike riders ignore the death statistics and believe it could never happen to them, and carry on third laning and overtaking on a corner next to a pedestrian crossing. And once again everybody else is at fault, and no other road user ever shouts to tell them they’re being stupid.

So two more lucky, lucky riders dodged the reaper today. Maybe they won’t be so lucky next time.

    • sage says:

You may not be so lucky in your car either. ‘Third laning’ can be done safely yet some drivers feel the need to drive at oncoming bike riders they deem to be stupid because premeditated vehicular homicide is ok in their little minds, or they hug the line in bumper to bumper traffic with 6 feet of road on their left so a bike can’t pass. Also our road fatality statistics are the epitome of ‘fuzzy maths’ and therefore meaningless, since drunks in major collisions are routinely not tested, ask Dr. Joe Froncioni if you don’t believe me.

I can put my vehicle anywhere I want within the confines of the lane which I’m travelling.

    Irony.
    A few pictures speak …

  5. Look In The mIRROR says:

While we all know that this could have been avoided by staying back a safe distance and paying attention, there is nothing to indicate that this was due to speeding and intentional reckless driving. The bikes don’t look badly damaged. We don’t know if someone dashed across the pedestrian crossing or if the truck stop suddenly, or something else. I know it still could be avoided, but c’mon we all make mistakes.

Sometimes an accident, is just that…an accident. Lets not judge. I trust that EVERY person reading this forum has been in a fender bender (or worse) or at the very least a near miss.

Yes, we need to all pay a bit more attention and drive defensively instead of offensively but lets not be so ready to judge and crucify. I’m not gonna be the one to throw the first stone!

    • James says:

They are actually not called accidents in the real world anymore. They are called road traffic collisions. This appears to have taken place within the confines of a pedestrian crossing. In other countries the zig zag lines mean no overtaking. Unfortunately they paint them at random here. I don’t think the zig zags are actually written into law here. In the UK parking or overtaking within the zig zags used to get you three months off the road.

  6. Keepin' it Real!...4Real! says:

This third laning crap is a catch 22…There are some drivers out there that breed road rage with their driving habits…and i’m not talking about the speeders…I’m talking about the slow pokes…I find that lots of drivers do not keep up with the flow of traffic…nothing worse than watching the train of traffic disappearing around the corner ahead of you while the car infront of you is dilly dallying…you look in your mirror and see a line of traffic behind you…when I was coming up third laning was for experienced race heads…no problem for them but now EVERYBODY wants to go up the middle hitting mirrors or whatever…anyway…I’m tired bie!

  7. swing voter says:

I’m an old geezer 3rd lane rider for over 30 yrs….the difference is that most people can’t ride. My only rule is that all car drivers are idiots, to avoid collision at all costs, tease your breaks and watch out for last second turn signals
