Minister Foggo Attends Caribbean IT Summit
Minister of Cabinet Office with Responsibility for Government Reform Lovitta Foggo, is currently in Antigua and Barbuda with Caribbean leaders this week to participate in an IT conference.
“At the invitation of the Government of Antigua and Barbuda, Minister Foggo, together with Ministerial representation from other Caribbean Islands, is engaged in a Summit today [Jan 16] to explore common frameworks for enabling the delivery of e-government services,” the Government said.
“The Prime Minister of Antigua and Barbuda, Gaston Browne and Prime Minister of Grenada, Keith Mitchell are also present at the event.”
Minister Foggo, Prime Minister of Antigua and Barbuda, Gaston Browne, Prime Minister of Grenada Keith Mitchell [centre] and other Ministerial representatives from various Caribbean Islands are participating in the CTU / CARICAD IT Summit.
“The Summit, which is being hosted in partnership with the Caribbean Telecommunications Union [CTU] and the Caribbean Centre for Development Administration [CARICAD], will provide an opportunity for the Minister to identify partnership opportunities as the Bermuda Government seeks to advance its own e-government goals as a part of its government reform initiative.
“The Minister noted that an extensive review of all of government’s IT and Telecom systems is currently underway.
“While in Antigua and Barbuda, Minister Foggo will also take the opportunity to get an update on the Caribbean nation’s recovery efforts following last year’s hurricane damage.
“Minister Foggo, who left the Island this past weekend, returns to Bermuda later this week. The Minister is accompanied by a technical officer from the Office of Information and Digital Technologies.

We’ve managed a first class bus system for over 70 years, I believe this Gov’t understands the needs and are actively addressing them… While the previous Gov’t did absolutley nothing to address the issues.. Nothing.
That’s a lie. They tried to change but were continually thwarted by refusal to make progress by the Unions.
But we paid $77 Million for a sailboat race, I wonder how many buses we could’ve got for that?
And we made $300+ million off it ya dummy. That’s good math but mans not hot. quick maths is not ya specialty I can see! The only good math PLP left us with was with crippling debt….
The last government ordered the buses your lot are taking the credit for.
The previous Government was concentrating on reducing the budget deficit from $300m a year. It had no money thanks to the previous PLP Government. Despite that they ordered 4 new buses, 1 of which arrived today.
Nothing can be done to improve the service until someone manages to break the hold the BIU has, which won’t happen.
She probably told them the Bermy voters sent the oba/UBP packing…..
