Police Confirm Death Of 50-Year-Old Visitor

[Updated] The police have confirmed the death of a 50-year-old male visitor from New York, who collapsed while sightseeing in the east end this afternoon.

A police spokesperson said, “At approximately 3:30pm today [Wednesday] a medical emergency was reported. The incident occurred outside the Unfinished Church in St. Georges.

“It appears that a 50-year-old male tourist from New York was sightseeing when he suddenly collapsed. He was attended to by members of the public and his family until first responders arrived.

“The man was subsequently conveyed to KEMH via ambulance, however the 50-year-old man unfortunately passed.

“No further information will be given until the next of kin has been notified.”

Update Feb 22, 3.53pm: A police spokesperson said, “The Bermuda Police Service can now confirm the death of 50 year old Frank Marzocca and extends sincere condolences to his family and friends.

“Around 3:30pm Wednesday, February 21 st police and first responders were dispatched to a reported medical emergency involving Mr. Marzocca outside the Unfinished Church in St. George’s.

“Despite lifesaving efforts at the scene, which continued while the visitor from New York was rushed to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance, sadly he was later pronounced dead.

“A Family Liaison Officer has been assigned to assist the Marzocca family at this difficult
time. Foul play is not suspected, but an autopsy is anticipated.”
