5,000 Passengers For Escape’s Inaugural Visit

The Norwegian Escape cruise ship made her inaugural visit to Bermuda this week, carrying a full capacity of 5,000 passengers.

A Government spokesperson said, “The Norwegian Escape, the largest cruise ship in the Norwegian Cruise Line fleet, began its 2018 summer cruise schedule to Bermuda this week in a big way.

“The ship docked in the West End yesterday with full capacity of 5,000 passengers aboard, and is expected to be booked heavily during its Bermuda voyages in the coming weeks.

“The Deputy Premier and Minister of Transport and Regulatory Affairs Walter Roban led a Bermuda delegation aboard to commemorate the ship’s maiden Bermuda voyage.

“The latest luxury liner on its inaugural visit to the island, put in at the Heritage Wharf in the Royal Naval Dockyard. The nearly three year old vessel, with a maximum occupancy of up to 5000, has a crew of 1,733.

“The traditional exchange of plaques took place in a brief ceremony involving the Deputy Premier, West End Development Corporation General Manager Andrew Dias and the ship’s Captain Giovanni Cutugno.

A look at the ship:

“The Norwegian Escape arrived from New York and will leave port to return there tomorrow. This is the first call of its 24 visits this season.”

    Shame the ferries are still running on the winter schedule.. with 20 cruise hips here this month one would thing someone would have thought to expand the service !!

      Not to bother: Norwegian do their utmost to keep revenue onboard. God forbid any money get spent ashore.

    BUS SERVICE IS WORSE THEN THE PITS,LOCALS THAT CATCH THE BUS NO
    MATTER WERE THEIR GOING HAVE TO WALK,BECAUSE THE DRIVERS FILL THE
    BUS IN DOCKYARD,AND LEAVE ALL THE LOCALS AT THE BUS STOP,IN FACT
    THEY DONT EVEN LOOK AT US,AND THIS WILL BE ALL SUMMER,TAXI’S
    FORGET IT,THEY DONT DRIVE BERMUDIANS WHEN SHIPS ARE IN,BUT WE
    KNOW WHO THEY ARE,JUST WAIT UNTIL ITS GETS SLOW.
