Bermuda’s Top 50 Twitter List For July 2018

Twitter’s war on bots and fake accounts has ratcheted up the past three months. According to the Washington Post, Twitter has suspended more than 70 million accounts as it battles to stem the flow of fake news on the social media platform.

No one in Bermuda’s Top 50 Twitter List suffered that fate although a few accounts did suffer insignificant declines in the number of followers.

Dr Cindy Trimm had the most substantial increase with 8,000 additional followers the second quarter. She remains second overall, behind Fox and WWE commentator John Layfield.

The only change in the Top 10 saw the Bermuda Tourism Authority move up one spot to ninth as it slipped past Fiyah Marshall.

The Real Dudley continues its descent down the list as the account lost a few more followers this quarter and dropped to 12th. Overall the account has more than 56% of its followers over the past two years.

Chubb moved past Clare O’Connor into 14th.

World champion triathlete Flora Duffy gained about 2,000 followers and now has more than 10,000. In the process, she also climbed past Gosling’s Rum for 21st on the list.

The biggest mover this quarter was the Bermuda Cricket Board.
