Bermuda School Of Music To Tour In Chicago
The Bermuda School of Music will be holding its 5th Suzuki Tour from Monday, October 22 to Thursday, October 25th.
A spokesperson said, “This is a wonderful opportunity for our students to represent Bermuda in front of hundreds of other musicians and music lovers in the United States.
“Over the summer the group of 33, ages 5-17, was accepted to participate in a series of workshop with members of the Chicago Symphony and the Western Springs Talent Education school.
“In addition to the workshops, the students will be representing Bermuda by performing at schools in the North Chicago suburb of Winnetka, at Chicago Hospitals and in a showcase performance in front of the Daley Center in Downtown Chicago.
“In preparation for our tour, the students will also participate in a Local Tour, which will be held on Friday, October 12th. This event, which helps serve as the stepping stone for the overseas event, will have the group traveling throughout Hamilton to perform four concerts during the day. In addition to the performance experience it will help build confidence, motivation and maturity.
“The Bermuda School of Music, a not-for-profit registered Bermuda charity #483, has been providing music education to the Island since 1978, commencing with the Dunbarton School of Music. Currently with approximately 1,000 students, its aim to provide community music programmes for students of all ages and in areas of need.
“The Bermuda School of Music Tour Group’s performances will feature classical music favorites such as The Bee [L’Abeille] and Hunter’s Chorus, fiddle tunes such as the Orange Blossom Special and a Bermuda favorite, Bermuda is Another World.”
They will also host a Public Performance on Friday October 12th at 10:45am on the City Hall Steps.
