88-Year-Old Woman Stable In ICU After Collision

[Updated] An 88-year-old woman is in stable condition in the ICU, while a 55-year-old man was treated and discharged following a three vehicle collision in Warwick yesterday [Nov 20], with “initial information suggesting that the elderly female driver may have experienced a medical episode prior to the collision.”

A police spokesperson said, “Around 9am Tuesday, November 20th police and fellow first responders were dispatched to a reported three vehicle collision on Middle Road in Warwick near the junction with Riddell’s Bay Road.

“It appears that a car driven in the westbound lane of Middle Road collided with another car and a van, both being driven in the opposite direction.

“The driver of the westbound car, believed to be an 88-year-old Southampton woman as well as the driver of the van, believed to be a 55-year-old Sandys parish man, were taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance for treatment.

“Initial information suggested that the elderly female driver may have experienced a medical episode prior to the collision.

“At last check this morning [November 21st] the 88-year-old woman was listed in stable condition in the hospital’s Intensive Care Unit while the 55-year-old man had been treated and discharged.

“Apparently the male driver and two passengers of the other car involved were not hurt. However, all three vehicles were damaged.

“Any witnesses are asked to call the main police telephone number 295-0011.”

Update November 22, 11.57am: A police spokesperson said, “At last check this morning (November 22nd) the 88 year old woman hospitalised after a three vehicle collision on Middle Road in Warwick near the junction with Riddell’s Bay Road around 9am Tuesday, November 20th remained in stable condition in the hospital’s Intensive Care Unit.

“Any witnesses are still asked to call the main police telephone number 295-0011.“
