Photos: Cultural Affairs Hosts Seniors Lunch
The islands seniors were treated to a lunch at the Fairmont Southampton today, with hundreds of people attending the event, which was hosted by the Department of Community and Cultural Affairs.
Minister of Labour, Community Affairs and Sports Lovitta Foggo said, “I’m so thankful for events such as this which provide the perfect opportunity for our senior citizens to connect with each other, fostering a sense of fellowship.
“Studies have shown that staying active and connected to others can help seniors maintain good emotional health and cognitive function – and there is no better way to connect than over a delicious meal with top-notch entertainment.”
“As seniors, you are the gatekeepers of our history and an invaluable resource to our community. Government – through our programmes and services for seniors – aims to show our appreciation and respect for you – our stalwart generation – that keeps giving us so much, even to this day.”
“It’s encouraging to see all the young people here as well today; helping with this programme by seating our guests and providing entertainment. It’s wonderful to see them giving back to those that came before us and paved the way for the Bermuda we love today.”
“Thank you, Bermuda’s Seniors, for coming today and for all you have done for our community.”
