Police Appeal For Witnesses To Handbag Snatch
Police are appealing for witnesses to a handbag robbery that occurred on Thursday night [May 9] on Woodlands Road in Pembroke.
A police spokesperson said, “Detectives are continuing their inquiries regarding a reported robbery that occurred around 9pm Thursday, May 9th on Woodlands Road in Pembroke near the junction with Canal Road.
“It appears that a 44 year old Pembroke woman was walking along Woodlands Road when she was accosted by an unknown male motorcyclist who grabbed her handbag.
“Apparently a struggle ensued and the woman fell to the ground, striking her head. The unknown male motorcyclist then made good his escape with the handbag, which contained a quantity of cash and personal items.
“The 44 year old woman was transported to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance for treatment and later discharged.
“The suspect is described as a dark complexioned male, approximately 5 feet 10 inches tall, wearing a grey helmet with a white T-shirt and riding a black motorcycle.
“Any witnesses that have not already come forward or members of the public with any information are asked to call the Criminal Investigation Department on 247-1744.”
What a brave young man. I hope his mother finds out what he has been up to.
