Conyers Legal Scholarship & Bursary Winners

Conyers announced that Conor Hay is the 2019 recipient of the firm’s legal scholarship award, and the firm also awarded four new bursaries to Bermudian law students Ciara Burrows, Ryan Robinson Perinchief, Nicole Yearwood, and Shayla Smith.

The scholarship award, presented annually to a Bermudian enrolled in a law degree programme, is valued at $30,000 per year for a maximum of three years.

Mr. Hay will be attending King’s College, University of London. He is a 2019 graduate of Warwick Academy, where he was Head Boy and Valedictorian, achieving 43/45 points in the International Baccalaureate.

He is also an outstanding musician, achieving a Distinction in the Associate of the Royal Schools of Music Violin Diploma and the 2019 Bermuda Outstanding Teen Award for Performing Arts.

“I feel extremely fortunate to receive the Conyers Legal Scholarship Award, and I am very appreciative of the opportunity provided by the award, as it will make an enormous difference as I pursue a law degree at King’s College, London. The community is fortunate that Conyers provides such generous support and financial assistance to students as they pursue legal education,” Mr. Hay said.

“Conyers is committed to supporting students in Bermuda that are looking to embark on a career in law. Conor is an exceptional individual with an impressive list of achievements both academic and extra-curricular. We are very pleased to name him this year’s scholarship recipient,” said Sophia Greaves, Director, on behalf of the scholarship selection committee.

In addition to the Legal Scholarship, Conyers awarded four new bursaries to Bermudian law students to help further their legal education:

  • Ciara Burrows
  • Ryan Robinson Perinchief
  • Nicole Yearwood
  • Shayla Smith

Through its legal scholarship award and various bursaries the firm has donated over $1.2 million to legal education in the past five years, positively impacting the next generation of Bermuda lawyers.
