Car Lodged In Ditch, Driver Extracted & Arrested

A 41-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of driving whilst impaired after police officers “came upon a car lodged in an open ditch,” with the driver having to be extracted from the vehicle by the Bermuda Fire and Rescue Service.

A police spokesperson said, “Shortly after 1:00 a.m. today, Saturday, 22nd August, police officers on patrol in Smiths Parish, came upon a car lodged in an open ditch, near the old post office on Harrington Sound Road.

“The 41 year old male driver was extracted from the vehicle by members of the Bermuda Fire and Rescue Service.

“He was transported to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital for treatment to his injuries which were considered to be non-life-threatening.

“He was subsequently arrested on suspicion of driving whilst impaired.”

    Yes, the driver was arrested and will appear in court for his bad decision. However, if that hole had been left open and unattended anywhere else not only the company trenching but the company having it done would be liable and that fellow would have a very nice case against them. New car the whole nine.

      Ample signage around as it drove past same ditch
      The difference here is he was allegedly drunk and went to the wrong side of the.cones!

      You don’t need to be a detective to wrap up this case!

    Shame the cones weren’t there by the open ditch when I drove past on Friday evening, It was an accident waiting To happen. Hope they are ok.

    I literally done the same thing that Friday night on my bike but caught myself just before entering the hole. I knew this was going to happen to someone. Stop light & cones was set up very poorly.
