Tickets Sold Out At BFA Office For Charity Cup

September 4, 2020

The Bermuda Football Association [BFA] confirmed that “all the tickets being sold at the BFA Office have been sold out” for tonight’s [Sept 4] Men’s Charity Cup.

The BFA had earlier announced earlier that only 75 tickets will be available to purchase via the BFA for the Men’s Charity Cup scheduled to take place tonight at the National Sports Center.

A spokesperson said, “The Bermuda Football Association [BFA] recognizes that the COVID-19 pandemic has caused tremendous disruptions on everyone’s lives and any sense of normalcy is not a consistent occurrence across the entire community.

“Such is the case with planning to commence with the start of the 2020 – 2021 football season. Unfortunately, and this is our new normal, the BFA is challenged with making playing and enjoying football as safe and secure as possible under the current pandemic.

“In this regard, we developed protocols for return to training which was submitted to the relevant Bermuda Government Ministries for review and received clearance to proceed in July.

“Additionally, we developed a set of match specific protocols which we submitted to the relevant Bermuda Government Ministries for review and approval at the beginning of August. Unfortunately, having met with representatives of the relevant Government Ministries and having received recommendations for implementation during the season the BFA only received a conclusive decision on hosting the Charity Cup match scheduled for tonight at 8:00 p.m. at the National Sports Center yesterday Thursday, September 3rd at 5:12 pm

“This decision contained a limitation on the number of people allowed into the National Sports Centre for the purposes of attending the match to 300 people. This includes provisions for both teams, referees, operations staff, ball kids, media, national stadium workers, and the balance of the allotment for fans! Based on the above, we have allocated team specific tickets which are being handled directly by the teams which leaves 75 tickets available to purchase via the BFA.

“As a result of this situation, tickets will be available to purchase from the BFA Office at the Clyde Best Center of Excellence on a first come first serve basis until these limited number of tickets are sold. We also wish to remind all persons visiting the BFA Office to wear their face mask as they will not be allowed to enter the building.

“In closing, we apologize to all the fans of North Village Community Club, Southampton Rangers Sports Club and the entire football family for this situation which is totally beyond the control of the BFA. We also wish to advise all fans to expect similar restrictions throughout the season as we will need special exemptions to have more than 75 people at any football match throughout the island. As of this moment, the BFA does not have a decision for any other match beyond the Charity Cup.”
