Jessica Lewis To Compete In World Ekiden

October 20, 2020

Bermudian sprinter Jessica Lewis has been chosen by the World Para Athletics as part of the second team selected for the ASICS World Ekiden 2020.

The event is a free global relay race meant to inspire, motivate, and test people as they prepare to compete against teams from all over the world.

Teams of up to six participants will see each complete a distance between 5K and 10K, totaling the marathon distance and results will be posted to a global leaderboard.

Ms Lewis said, “I am super excited and honored to be chosen to be a part of one of the World Para Athletics teams for the ASICS Ekiden 2020 Virtual Relay. It’s awesome to be on a team with athletes from South Africa, Japan, Peru, and Brazil. The 42.2km Marathon distance will be broken up into 3x5km, 2x10km, and 1×7.2km. I believe I will be doing the 7.2km section. I am still waiting to hear the date I will be pushing my portion, but the event runs November 11th-22nd.”
